Someone looking at promtions for smartphones for February 2018Looking at the shortest month of the year, did the promotions come up short?

Verizon

  • Verizon started the month with a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deal with a trade-in on the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, iPhone 8 64GB, iPhone X, moto z2 force edition, LG V30, and the Galaxy S8. You could also get $200 off the Galaxy Note8 with no trade-in required or the LG K20 V for free with no trade-in required. For the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, and the iPhone 6s there was up to $300 off with a trade-in.

  • By the middle of the month, the Pixel 2 XL was $300 off with no trade-in required and the Pixel 2 was $100 off with no trade-in required. Verizon offered several promotions with no trade-in required including deals like: buy an iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus and get an iPhone 8 64GB or save $200 on Galaxy S8, moto z2 force edition, LG V30, or Galaxy S8+. The LG K20V was offered for free.

  • By the end of the month, the Galaxy S9 was ready for pre-order with a $500 off promotion ($350 with trade-in and a $150 prepaid card). The $300 off promotion ended for the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, and iPhone 6s.

AT&T

  • AT&T stuck by their BOGO promotion, so it must be working. You could use the promotion on iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Galaxy Note8, LG V30, LG G6, Galaxy S8 Active, Galaxy S8, or the Galaxy S8+.

  • For a short time in the middle of the month the iPhone X, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus were added to the BOGO deal, but were removed before the end of the month.

  • At the end of the month, AT&T didn’t offer any pre-order promotions on the new Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8 Active, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S8+ were removed from the BOGO offer.

Sprint

  • Sprint was big again on their iPhone Forever promotion. Lease an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus with a Sprint Flex plan and you could get an iPhone 8 64GB lease for free. There was also a Galaxy Forever promotion with 50% off your Sprint Flex lease payments on the Galaxy S8, S8 and Note8. Sprint offered a reduced monthly lease payment on the iPhone X for $30 a month and instant savings on the iPhone SE of $125.

  • By the middle of the month, the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus with Sprint Flex and get an iPhone 8 64GB continued along with the iPhone X lease for $30 a month. Additional reduced lease payments were added for the Galaxy S8 for $8 a month, Note8 for $18 a month, or the LG V30+ for $20 a month.

  • By the end of the month the iPhone 7 was offered for free when you leased an additional iPhone 7.

T-Mobile

  • The month started with an iPhone 8, Galaxy S8, Note8, S8+, S8 Active, LG V30, and  LG G6 BOGO deal with a trade-in. A save $150 plus trade-in amount promotion was offered on the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, LG V30, Apple iPhone 8, and iPhone 8+ with an eligible trade-in.

  • By the middle of the month the iPhone 8, Galaxy S8, Note8, S8+, S8 Active, LG V30, and LG G6 BOGO promotion continued. You could also save up to $850 on the LG V30 or LGG6 smartphones with no trade-in required. They also added a BOGO offer if you bought an iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 Plus, you could  get an iPhone 8 with a trade-in.

  • By the end of the month you could get an iPhone X with a $200 off promotion plus the value of trade-in device. The $850 promotion offer was reduced to $800 on the LG V30 or LG G6.

Best Buy

  • Best Buy had many unique offers this month that were not offered by the carriers.

  • There was a $250 Best Buy Gift Card on the Samsung Galaxy Note8, S8 or S8+ and the iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus, 7, or 7 Plus with Sprint activation. They also had a $200 promotion off a Samsung Galaxy Note8, Google Pixel 2, or Pixel 2 XL with Verizon activation.

  • By the middle of the month the Google Pixel 2 XL offer was upped to $300 with Verizon activation or $400 if it was the deal of the day. The $250 promotion was upped to a $350 Best Buy gift card for a Galaxy Note8, S8 or S8+ with qualified activation for Sprint activation.

  • The end of the month had a Samsung promotion for $100 off the Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+ with pre-order and qualified activation plus, an additional savings up to $350 with a trade-in. The Pixel 2 XL promotion offer of $400 was back for Verizon and not just a daily deal.

  • Throughout the month you could save $50 off any unlocked phone.

Wrap Up

For the shortest month, there were many BOGO promotions, trade-in offers, deals that didn’t require a trade-in, and reduced monthly payments offers. The Samsung Galaxy S9 was available for pre-order at the end of the month with the promotions just starting, so we will see next month if all the carriers join in with promotions.
